It’s so boring, people next door fell asleep.
Yes, finally, it is finished!

Wait, don’t fall asleep! You’ll drool on the keyboard! Anyways, I know, the picture is boring. The picture is so boring that even the remote control in the picture has fallen asleep. The miles of mattress stitch putting it together? Totally boring. The color? Manly Boring.
But, I think its a nice sweater, over all. I have a ton of Elann Peruvian Highland Wool left over, though. The pattern came from a Paton’s leaflet, and was well written. It still needs washed and blocked, but I’m pretty happy with it.
Having finished a project, I was allowed to start a new one. I meant to start my mom’s christmas sweater, but ended up casting on for Annie’s cardigan in Fall 2005 Vogue Knitting instead. I’m using Glacier Blue Beaverslide for the solid contrast color, and some Interlacements Oregon Worsted that I bought on sale awhile back.

I’m feeling torn. For one, that’s a lot of orange. I think as the garment gets bigger, the orange will spread out, but still, that’s a lot of orange. It feels very Denver Bronco like. I’m trying to imagine wearing it.
Also, the pattern decided to drive me insane. It’s knit in one large circle. So it has you cast on 8 stitches. Okay, fine. Then, it has you knit twice into every stitch, calling this the “wrong side”. Okay, all good. It then has you put it on double points and join. Still fine. Then it has you do something else, only it calls it the “right side”. Um. I sort of ignored all that until I got to the last bit of the setup instructions, which told me to start working with the “wrong side” facing me. Which was the stst side. Um? One, there isn’t a stst side, unless I was meant to keep flipping my circle over and knit the other direction at the end of each round. Which would make no sense, given that it was already joined. So, I sort of compromised, flipped the circle after joining, knitted the rounds, and then flipped it back when starting the twisted stitch portion.
The twisted stitches are just the braids I learned how to do in my latvian wristers class, except Annie has you do it by knitting with the wrong side facing, instead of purling with the right side facing. Braids are fiddly and annoying, but it isn’t too bad over all.

November 8th, 2006 at 9:31 am[…] The Flamingo (who is now named Pinky by my mom and grandma) made friends with all the stuffed animals in the car. He got out of the car when we stopped at a rest stop in Indiana and immediately honed in on Mike, my mom’s partner. Who is wearing the Sweater of Great Boringness I knitted for him last year.
